May 2010

Greetings to all!

During the past month, we have had some unexpected changes take place. Our Chamber President, Mark Ford, accepted a position with a company based out of Sioux City and will be traveling extensively. Mark and his family will continue to reside in Mills County. For all of you that know Mark, his family will continue to be very active in Mills County''s activities. As President, Mr. Ford set many goals for the Chamber. Our Chamber Board members are committed to seeing that these goals are reached and would like to thank Mark for his time and commitment while serving on the Board and as President. Mark, you will be missed! Serving as Vice President this year, I have assumed Mark''s position as President as of May 1st.

The Chamber is continuing to lead the way with the Glenwood Betterment Committee. A large group meeting was held on Thursday, April 29th with good attendance from our local government, building/business owners, and concerned citizens of Glenwood with key issues discussed. This committee is focused on preserving our history and cultural wealth, planning upcoming events, and beautifying our community. If you are interested in attending these meetings and/or would like to become more involved, we welcome you to our next quarterly meeting on September 23rd. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or the Chamber Office.

Coming up in July, we will be having our Annual Chamber Golf Tournament. This tournament is a fundraiser for community betterment projects. Registration forms have been sent out to past participants. If you have not participated in the past, registration forms are available at the Chamber office or you can download one on our website under Special Events. It is a two-day, 2-person scramble format tourney, held on July 10th and 11th. The tournament will again be held at the Glenwood Golf Course this year. For those participating in the tournament, the course is offering FREE green fees on Friday, July 9th. The tourney will be LIMITED TO 72 TEAMS AND IS BASED ON A FIRST COME FIRST-TO-REGISTER POLICY, SO REGISTER EARLY AS IT DOES FILL UP FAST!! If you have played in the past or are new to our community and enjoy golf and supporting the Chamber, please join us. Also, Friday evening, July 9th, we host our Putting Contest on the putting green. More details about the golf tourney and other upcoming events are available on the website and at the chamber office.

For those who are new to our area or considering moving to Glenwood/Mills County area, we would like to extend a warm welcome. You will find the Chamber and this website to be the best resources to find information and/or links to all that''s happening in our friendly community nested in the Loess Hills.

Glenwood offers you the best of both worlds... a community with small town values and pride, located close to the Omaha/Council Bluffs Metro.

Sincerely,

Mike Kenkel
