     Spring 2008 Chamber Chat…

After a very long Iowa winter, we look forward to some warmth and sunshine.   We just finished a very busy several months with our Annual Women’s Health Conference and our Annual Betterment and Beautification Dinner & Awards Program.  Both of these events had the most attendees ever!  A new program this year is our Quarterly Lunch N Learn Series.  We have had two so far and will be announcing our third quarter event, to be held in September.  Watch for details on this!  Remember to check our Calendar and Upcoming Events on the website.  We try to keep this information as current as possible and rely on you to help us.  Our Annual Chamber Golf Tournament is coming up July 11^th , 12^th , and 13^th.  We are just getting the details put together and will be sending registration information next week.  I would like to remind you to attend our weekly Chamber Coffees.  It is incredible how much networking takes place at these events.  But, you have to attend and you have to visit with everyone that is there.  It’s so easy…if you are not attending, you are missing an opportunity to meet people which could be potential customers for you.  Our biggest announcement coming up is that we were chosen by the Iowa Department of Economic Development to participate in a Downtown Assessment.  IDED was here several months ago for a visit to Glenwood.  They were so enamored by our town square and the fact that we are nestled in the Loess Hills that they have offered a very generous discount to administer this 2-day assessment to be held June 3^rd & 4^th.  They believe our community “jewel” is our town square and we have some very valuable architecture.  We will be getting information to you about this opportunity and many of you will be asked to be involved.  So…get those store fronts tidy for this community visit.  By then, we should have some flowers blooming in the pots and things should be looking green by then.  Remember, you are the Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce…we are here to work for you.  Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.
